Packing on Friday

I hope to see you all at Great Lakes Eye Care 5:30 on Friday. If you can't make it please let me know (other than the out-of-Staters).

For those of you who don't travel out of the country much here is the low-down:

1) Everyone is entitled to one checked luggage, one personal item, & one carry on bag free of charge.
-Checked luggage needs to be less than 50 lbs and 62" (length + width + height). More than likely we will need you to carry one of our checked luggage so we encourage all of you to limit your personal items items to a carry on bag. For an additional bag, it will be $25 if we know ahead of time or $30 at the airport.
-Carry-ons should not exceed 45" and be able to fit easily in the overhead compartment. Containers holding liquids cannot be more than 3oz and all liquids must be able to fit in a quart sized ziploc bag.
-Personal items include purses, laptop computer bag, briefcase, or camera case.
-We will have one or two luggages assigned for personal stuff that does not fit in your bag or don't meet the requirements so feel free to bring them with you tomorrow.

2) Jane has asked for towels and bed sheets so if you have any you can spare any (that will be left down there) please bring them with you. They make excellent packing material as well!!

3) Things highly recommended to bring:
-Clothes: A couple pairs of jeans, comfortable shoes, a few T-shirts, at least one set of casual dress clothes for church, plenty of socks & under items. VOI will be providing 2 T-shirts for everyone. For those in that will be in the OR please bring a couple pair of scrubs. If you don't have any please let me know your size and I will dig some out of the VOI room.
-Anti-malaria: The area we are traveling to does has incidences of malaria so we highly encourage the use of prophylaxis. If you have not gotten a prescription for Lariam (Mefloquine) or Malarone make sure we write one for you at the packing party. The Lariam needs to be started at least one week before we get there (meaning this Saturday).
-Pepto-Bismal: A lot of people swear by it but if your looking to avoid Traveler's Diarrhea this is a must with every meal.

4) Sunscreen & Mosquito Repellent - working outside near the equator, need I say more?

5) Applications & Passport copies. If you have not gotten these in to me please bring them with you to the packing party. I need to get traveler insurance soon and must have these in hand.

6) Can't think of anything else right now. If anyone else has any suggestions/ recommendations on what to bring, things to be aware of, etc feel free to post.

See most of you tomorrow!!!
