80% there!!

We are thankful for God's provisions for this project.  This is an update to say that the needs of the clinic are being met in quite a rapid fashion.  Praise God!

We are now down to a need of only $1300.

80% of our goal has been met.

Talk about Viral!!

I told you this trip was becoming quite viral!
We've added on one more very valuable member as of this morning.

Please welcome, Ibet Saucedo, who will be the equivalent of our Spanish dictionary!!  She is currently the translator at GLEC for our spanish patients and had told Robyn that she had wanted to go since I had mentioned the trip in a staff meeting.

We will be in great shape now for whatever communication we need to do as Ibet is coming to the rescue!

We've checked everything out with Jane and she says there will be no problems at all for sure, as long as Wendy and Amanda don't mind sleeping with the goats and Mark and Bradley don't mind sitting on top of the bus on the way to San Lorenzo.

A need and a blessing!

I wanted to share a need and a blessing.

The need:
An email from Ecuador yesterday let me know that our total projects supplies and all will be about $8300.  They have essentially no funds to finish purchasing the supplies before we arrive, so they were asking for any donations towards this be sent to their Fort Wayne office so that the money can be wired to pay for the projects.

The blessing:
We've received another $1000 towards our work projects from an anonymous donor.  (someone not going on the trip)
This leaves us with $2300 for the balance of the work project.  Please pray for this.

If anyone would like to send a contribution to help with this, please send it directly to:

Latin American Missions Board
P.O. Box 15663
Fort Wayne, IN   46885

If you do send a contribution, you can let me know, so that I can update the group about where we are at with this amount.

Great news and get together times

Well, needless to say - God's hand in our trip planning is obvious.  The particular story of how this was very obvious this week will be shared at a later date.

We are planning 2 get togethers prior to the trip currently.

On Sunday, November 1st, the group and any supporting family members that wish to come are invited to the Pletcher's house at 5 PM - 7 PM for a time of sharing, prayer and a bit of chili in preparation for the upcoming trip.  I'll email directions later for those who need them.

A packing meeting needs to be scheduled at Great Lakes Eye Care on either Friday night, October 30th or Saturday monring, October 31st.  Please email me and let me know if you have a strong preference.

Project progress

We're happy to report that Jane and Damarys have fallen in love with the ideas of having a goat or two to milk.  These feelings were even further augmented when they ran into the man with the goats mentioned in the last post.

Jane has found the goat that she wants and is willing to pay whatever to get it.  Please note the special little friend that she has found.  Please leave your comments as to what she should name the special little lady!

Now that they are all psyched about goats.  We thought perhaps we could add some other animals that might go along with the goats!  Let me know what you think and also of the transportation option!

(despite that they may look like llamas, I believe they are actually camels!)
